About Us

What is the Entomological Society of British Columbia?

The Entomological Society of British Columbia is dedicated to understanding, appreciation and conservation of insects and their relatives in British Columbia. Through our annual meeting, publications, scholarships and grants, we strive to bring together professional, amateur and student entomologists.

The elected members of the executive committee serves as directors of the Society.

Founded in 1902, the Society has a long and interesting history.

The ESBC was incorporated into the ESC, and the by-laws drafted, in 1923.

Our seal and logo features aspects of BC and the Boreus elegans, the most distinctive of BC’s Snow Scorpionfly (Boreidae) that inhabits the snow of coastal mountains near the Pacific Ocean.
