The Entomological Society of British Columbia and UBC’s Malcolm Knapp Research Forest invite you to participate in an Insect BioBlitz event at Malcolm Knapp Research Forest on Saturday July 5th and Sunday July 6th, 2025. The objective of a BioBlitz is to document as much biological diversity as possible during a short interval of time — in this case, documenting as many insect (and other arthropod!) species as possible during the two-day event.
Malcolm Knapp Research Forest is located in beautiful Maple Ridge, British Columbia, and is the site of many exciting past and ongoing UBC research projects, making it an ideal venue for an Insect BioBlitz. An official invitation containing event details, a map, and a link to an iNaturalist project page for uploading insect observations is forthcoming and will be shared as the event approaches. Observers may participate for any amount of time during the event hours (9AM–6PM) on either or both days. Insect observations can include photographs and sound recordings uploaded to the designated iNaturalist project page, as well as physical specimens depending upon individual knowledge and capacity for arthropod collection. Note that dogs are not permitted in the Research Forest.
Please direct any inquiries about this event to Debra Wertman. We look forward to seeing you at the BioBlitz!
