Researchers from the University of British Columbia, the University of Northern British Columbia and the University of Alberta have announced the recent completion of genome sequencing for the mountain pine beetle. The mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae Hopkins) is only the second beetle genome to be sequenced and the first major forest insect genome to be sequenced. More info at the links below.
